2016 will be a great vintage. During summer, the high pressure kept the rainfalls away from the vines, but at the same time, the temperatures never registered more than 35°C.
The grapes have a high sugar level, a good acidity, and are particularly rich in anthocyanins, which is due to the high thermic excursion that happened during veraison between day and night.
Apart from small attacks by late blight in June, luckily fungi and bacteria did not compromise the health of the vine, which made possible a perfect maturation of the grapes. It started in mid-August and ended in the first week of September.
The harvest started on the 12th of September and lasted until the second half of October, helped by high temperatures and low rainfalls.
