Our Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG 2013 has just won its first prize: it has been honoured with the Corona by the contest Vinibuoni d’Italia, so we have now in total 150 prizes.
The Amarone DOCG 2013 of la Collina dei Ciliegi belongs to a small group, which had the privilege to win this prize: in fact, only 1,88% of the total of the wines that took part in the contest were given the Corona. This year more than 26000 wines were valued through a blind tasting by teams of experts, alongside a jury made up of journalists and wine lovers.
This initiative is called Oggi le corone le decido IO (which means, I do decide who deserves the Crowns), and it has obtained a great success.
The peculiarity of the Vinibuoni d’Italia guide, which has come to its fourteenth edition, is that it only talks about Italian native grape varieties, and it opens to the public and the media the night of the award ceremony, when the wines are awarded with the Corona and the Golden Star.
